The Ivy House Bed and Breakfast Hotel is a world unto itself. Perfectly located in the small Midwestern town of Fortville, Indiana, the Ivy House revels in the luxury of a truly peaceful setting, with furnishings and decor inside as lush as the landscaping outside. Only about five minutes from Ingalls, ten minutes from Fishers and Noblesville and twenty minutes from Indianapolis, the Ivy House is an exceptional getaway that provides a convenient, unforgettably agreeable stay for all its guests.
Built back in 1921, the Ivy House Bed and Breakfast Hotel in Fortville has been named one of the top ten of its kind throughout not just the state of Indiana, but the entire United States. This was, by all means, no accident. The moment you enter the grounds, you begin to sink into the romance and charm of a bygone era when things were simpler and people had time to enjoy and relax.
Everywhere you look in this intimate greater Indianapolis hotel are visions that entice you, from the delicately adorned outdoors sitting area to the irresistibly comfortable and visually sumptuous guest rooms.
The common rooms at the Ivy House are likewise a pleasure to behold. Newly restored in the venerable Dutch Colonial style, this Fortville hotel is immaculately kept and filled with treasures. Spend some time in the living room, conversing with other guests or the friendly staff, playing scrabble by the fireplace or simply soaking up the ambiance.
The front porch at the Ivy House is what a porch should be but seldom is. Ample and beautifully decorated with lacy white wicker and flowered cushions, this little piece of heaven is just the ticket for a refreshing glass of fresh lemonade or some hot tea in a real teacup.
The dining room is where everyone convenes for a royal breakfast, and the table is set accordingly, with fine china, flowers, crystal and, of course, tall white tapers that further brighten the atmosphere with candlelight. Plan on a full-course, homemade country breakfast with all your favorites, made fresh every morning. And don’t be surprised if you make some lasting friends.
Do take the time to chat with owner Jim Nolte about his superlative collection of antique doors. He and Linda, the lady of the establishment, also have some interesting stories to share about Ivy House. The Noltes have occupied the house from 1980 and created their dream bed and breakfast there in the year 2000.
Though the feel of this special place is not modern, guests enjoy high-definition flat-screened televisions with DVD players, and other up-to-date niceties in their bedrooms. The overwhelming attraction of the rooms, however, is the lovely decor. Bedding is high-quality throughout and each room offers other amenities, such as custom robes, hair dryers and their own unique character.
